Once you become fearless, life becomes limitless.
The power in this quote is so great, it is difficult to fully grasp.
Can you imagine your life without any fear?
I have been pondering the idea of fear, and overcoming the things that I am most afraid of quite frequently while I have been in Paris.
Everyday I feel like I am overcoming something that makes me feel uncomfortable. Whether it be speaking French to someone I don’t know, or figuring out how to convey that I need an adapter that connects my computer to my printer in French, to teaching five English classes to “Maternelle,” or French preschoolers, I have continually been put in situations that I have had to overcome a fear that forces me out of my comfort zone.
I have always said that the magic happens when you are outside of your comfort zone. However, when you are pushed out of your comfort zone almost everyday, it starts to get a bit wearing and opens the doors for home sickness to settle in.
Today, however, after I finished teaching all five of my English classes, I left with a huge sense of accomplishment. I overcame my fear of talking to the “Directrice “ of the school and telling her, in French, that I was the English teacher who was here to teach classes, and overcame my fear of teaching a class full of 3 year olds who didn’t speak a lick of English. Who would have thought that I actually managed to teach French 3 year olds how to say their name and whether they were a boy or girl in English? I was so proud of them, and me!
It reminded me that we should challenge ourselves to overcome our fears every single day. We should not be afraid to put ourselves in uncomfortable situations. In fact, we should put ourselves in situations that make us uncomfortable, because it is in those situations that we learn and grow the most.
Can you imagine a life without fear?
Nothing would stop you.
You really would be limitless.
